  • How to Clean & Care for Golf Shoes

Keeping your golf shoes properly cared for is easy and can even save you money and strokes. Good shoes last a long time and can keep you well balanced and comfortable on the course. Golfers spend a lot of time on their feet, especially those who enjoy the game at its truest form and walk, so keeping the shoes in top form is important.

1.Use a wet rag to wipe off excess dirt, grass and residue. Do this after every round of golf to prevent stains. Soap and water may not be needed, but it’s important to clean the creases in the leather or synthetic uppers of the shoes. Use the wet rag to wipe dirt and grime from the soles of the shoes as well.

2.Place shoe trees in the shoes. Wooden or plastic, it doesn’t matter. Shoe trees help reduce creasing, while also helping the leather maintain its shape and elasticity. Shoe trees keep the shoes comfortable and lasting longer, which saves money.

3.Wax or polish golf shoes. Wax and shoe polish can help moisten the leather of synthetic uppers and keep the shoes lasting longer and looking aesthetically pleasing. This should be done at least once a month to keep the shoes in their tip-top form.

4.Switch shoes. Alternate between your favorite two or three pairs. This helps the shoes to dry naturally after each waxing or polishing or cleaning. Rotating shoes also helps the shoes to keep their shape and comfort level.

5.Check spikes. Regular golfers (those who play at least twice a week) should change their spikes once every two months. If not, the spikes can be tough to remove and become worn. Worn spikes can cause golfers to lose stability in the swing.
